I grew up going to the Broadmoor United Methodist Church. I did the whole thing – – Sunday school (religiously!), Summer Bible Camp, church choir, acolyte, and so forth. Since apparently the nation is into Bible reading at the moment, I’d like to offer some selections this evening:
Psalm 37:1–2
“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.”
Psalm 37:7
“Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
Psalm 73:16–17
“When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood their end.”
Proverbs 24:19–20
“Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.”
Psalm 92:7
“When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever.”
Habakkuk 2:3–4
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie… though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.”
Galatians 6:7–9
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
