Media Matters

Back in the days of Walter Cronkite, everyone got the news, and its interpretation, from pretty much the same source. It made for a more unified nation. These days, the diversity of opinion is extreme, and it pretty much has resulted in everyone hating everyone else.

Here’s one example: Elon Musk did an interview with The Economist. The interpretation of that interview depends on the source. At Gizmodo, for example, it described Musk as having a melt-down over perfectly normal questions. The article describes him as an unhinged fascist.

Meanwhile, the radical-right permabull site Zerohedge offered up the exact same interview as demonstrating that Musk was the sensible one and that it was the “virulently leftist” interviewer who was “snooty”.

Same guy. Same interview. Different worlds.
