For you serious SlopeCharts users out there, this is a vitally important thing to understand. Take note of the General tab.

In particular, this dropdown which dictates whether a real time quote is fetched for any given chart.

Some folks might be inclined to just use “On” to make sure they get an up-to-date price bar (what I dubbed many years ago, decades, actually, as “The Bar-So-Far“) but it isn’t that simple. The reason is that if you’re the sort, like me, who likes to Pre-Load the data in order to have super-fast charting, having this set to On will completely neuter the feature. You don’t want that. No one wants to be neutered.
Here’s the cunning plan that I’ve worked out as a workaround when I want to do some seriously high number of charts:
- I set it to On
- I do my preloading, just like in the beforetime
- I then change the setting to Off so it won’t force price quote fetches anymore
- Then I go and chart like a sumbitch
You’re welcome.
