I was sad to read today that comedian Kevin Meaney just died. Some of you know I take comedians very seriously. I remember watching Kevin starting in the late 1980s, and even though he never really made the big time (although at first he seemed that he would), he stuck with it all these decades and was able to make a living at it, which is damned hard. Here’s his first Johnny Carson appearance; it starts off slow but gets better:

I read him described as the precocious love child of Jonathan Winters and Ethel Merman. That sums it up pretty much. He was only sixty years old, and he will be missed. Rest in peace, Kevin.
