Well, moments ago Barack Obama was declared the winner of the Presidential election. Amazing.

When I was about eleven years old, I asked a black kid in my class to come over to my house. He wanted to, but he asked, "Are you sure your mom won't mind?" I honestly didn't know what he was talking about. "Why?", I asked. He answered, "Because I'm black."

The United States is a better place today. The coming years are going to be horrible, and Obama will probably get some of the blame (undeservedly). But this is going to give people some hope, at least for now.

Things I Will Not Miss After Today

  • Hearing McCain address an audience as "My friends……." fifty-six thousand times during a given speech.
  • Getting robo-calls at all hours of the day and night.
  • Seeing lawn signs scattered all over town for various candidates and propositions.
  • Tina Fey doing her Palin impersonation (it was funny the first couple of times, but come on……..)
  • Reading about the embarrassing gaffe of the day from the aforementioned Palin (fruit flies; human footprints inside dinosaur's; prank calls)
  • Seeing political fist-fights break out on this blog
  • Going to reddit.com and having about 20 out of 25 posts be election-focused.

It's time to get back to making money. And, by the way, I'm amazed how fast people have become bulls again (ahem, moo…..). I feel I am once again the last bear standing. And, by God, I'm proud of it.

And, Gary, I love your charts and analysis, but I must disagree that people will have the same manic, feverish passion buying up stocks as they did selling them. I believe before this week is out we're going to see a resumption of the selling. And, as you all know, I think in 2009 we will see lows not even dreamed of even last month. It's going to be fun. If people somehow take the Obama victory as being great for stocks, I am absolutely going to sell into that rally.
