Dear Old Dad Portfolio

By -

I wrote earlier this year about my late father’s stock portfolio (immediately turned into cash by his well-meaning but risk-average heirs), and I’ve been watching its progress ever since. As of today, it is up on an annualized basis by 25% (by way of contrast, world-famous money mismanager Cathie D. Wood, who has been paid hundreds of millions for her talents, is running this year at an annualized negative 14% with her biggest fund, ARKK). I thought it would be mildly interesting to show the 15 securities he had (past tense) which had established a handsome portfolio.

As you can see, the individual stocks (GLW notwithstanding) aren’t anything special, but the boring old funds are where he did great. All of these charts show just the past six months, in order to focus in on the “post-Dad-leaving-Earth” period and, as is plainly shown here, being in tech and mega-caps has been where all the action has been. Well done, Dad! Sorry we didn’t hang on to these gems!
