Having spent the day touring Versailles and its gardens, I offer two inescapable conclusions:
(1) Louis XIV had absolutely no self-esteem issues;
(2) He was so light in the loafers, it's a scientific miracle that there was ever a Louis XV. It gives a whole new meaning to the fact that his heirs were an "accident of birth."
