The Flat Ocean

I’ve been doing this a while. Slope is in its seventeenth year. I can usually make a silk purse out of the foulest sow’s ear. But, look, folks, take pity upon me. I can write about this……….

……..and this…….

……..but not this.:

A year ago, I could barely type fast enough to keep up with all the exciting market action, news, and developments. One look at the /VX (volatility) futures sort of tells you how things have changed.

As I am typing this, the /ES is up 0.09% and the /NQ is down 0.09%. What can I tell you about that? Well, folks, the average change is 0.00%. Thank you very much. See? Silk purse!

This is the challenge of writing 365 days a year about a market which offers absolutely no guarantee of being the least bit interesting. So if things seem a little dry, hey, believe me, I know. But I’m trying. I’m really, really trying.

So I’m going to start going through charts and try to find something – anything – to write about this in this goddamned, government-controlled, farce of a fake simulacrum of a “market.”
