I did a whirlwind cross-country trip this weekend (literally leaving Saturday morning and returning past midnight on Monday), but during that two day span I was away, it’s like the entire world turned upside down. Of note:
- The long-time founder and leader of Cruise resigned;
- The also long-time founder and leader of OpenAI was kicked out, in the biggest bit of corporate drama in years, and about five seasons of a dramatic mini-series was packed into the span of 48 hours, with the convulsions to OpenAI’s investor Microsoft (see below) reverberating to this moment;
- A completely unhinged and wildly charismatic former front-man for a Rolling Stones cover group won a landslide victory to lead Argentina, a country of nearly 50 million people.
Regarding that last item, honestly, I want the guy to succeed beyond anyone’s imagination, and that desire comes from a variety of places. I suspect, however, like with most political revolutions, the high water mark of optimism and excitement will be, oh, right about NOW. But, truly, I hope he shocks the world, and I wish him good luck! (Particularly since he’s a huge dog guy).
