Affluenza in the Extreme

Meet a mega-rich couple. This is Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake. Yes, Fake. They created and sold one of the consummate web 2.0 companies, Flickr, for $25 million almost twenty years ago. The co-founders married and, a few years later, got divorced in 2007, then Butterfield created a new company, Slack, which has made him a billionaire. During their brief marriage, they had one child whose name is Mint.

Moonstruck (7 of 9)

Preface to all nine parts: today is Eclipse Day, so I am giving myself an exceptionally rare day off. I have no idea if I'll see anything, because there's so much cloud cover. In spite of that, I had devoted the entire day to this quest, so I'm setting up some posts in advance so my dear readers do not get bored. Once this all blows over, I'll be sure to tell you about whatever adventures I had during my Texas journey.

I wanted to share some thoughts on a topic not directly related to trading. I don’t want to take credit for something I didn’t conjure up, since the late Dr. Wayne Dyer originally put the thought in my head, but it has been a persistent notion for me that I would like to share. It’s called the IFD syndrome.

Elon Musk Biography Review

Tesla, and Elon Musk, are no strangers to the Slope of Hope. I first wrote about Tesla over a decade ago in this post, in which I praised my new Model S (170,500 miles ago………) Just to prove I’m not an always-negative sourpuss, the last sentence I wrote in that lengthy review was “Elon has another winner on his hands.”, and God knows that was the case.

I have composed many dozens of posts about Elon and Tesla in the years since, and my own family’s financial well-being is partly tied to the man now. Thus, I was very excited to see famed biographer Walter Isaacson was coming out with his Elon Musk biography, which I pre-ordered months ago. I’ve been reading it every night since it arrived a week ago, and I have some things to say about it.

23andInsolvent

When the genetics testing company 23andMe first appeared years ago, I actually paid for and submitted my test. I thought I’d find out all kinds of vital information like if and when I’d get cancer, how long I’d live, and all kinds of other cool information. Nope. They were too terrified to say anything meaningful, so instead I found out stuff like – – and I’m not making this up – – my proclivity to have hard ear wax. Totally useless. I guess the rest of the planet is slowly catching on, as ME withers away to worthlessness.

Long Puts This Guy’s Marriage

By -

I got married a few weeks ago after almost getting cold feet the night before and running away. I committed to the marriage after posting a WSB topic and getting confirmation that a marriage is bullish.

Paid for the entire wedding using the money gambled in the market which she did not contribute anything to. She refuses to acknowledge my in depth analysis/ Reddit research and says I’m just gambling out (actually mine) life savings everyday. Meanwhile she contributes nothing monetarily to the relationship and just spends everyday having Tea brunch and wine nights with her gals.

We recently went on our Honeymoon and she took away my phone so I couldn’t check the markets. She ended up finding my burner phone while I was in the shower after market close.

Long story short I took a loan against the house for a Call option last Friday and because of JPow speech yesterday they have been margin called. The house is at risk if market doesn’t bounce back and she is a little upset. Says that if we lose the house that she will file for a divorce. Everything we own is because of my gambling.

I keep telling her just because the market is bearish doesn’t mean our relationship has to be. She doesn’t seem to understand volatility. I’m just stressed about my Call Options and she is not helping.
