I closed my ES shorts at 850 because (a) in the recent environment, a drop of 20 points isn't bad (b) I'm too beaten up lately not to take profits (c) we're near a green retracement level.
Who knows – maybe I am leaving money on the table – but I have found that when one has been beaten up a while, it helps to take smaller profits and get one's confidence back.
