Seeing Double

By -

As a follow up to my Eclipse post, I’d like to give credit where credit is due. During our vigil in Brownwood, Texas, the chap below – Phil – had come with a very serious telescope. He actually drove from San Francisco to get it safely there, which takes day. The amazing images you saw in my post were creating by him, and those were just a sneak peek of the 1,000+ he took.

I brought some pretty serious photographic equipment as well, but the difference is that I had no clue what I was doing. Thus, when the totality was complete, I was surprised to see I had only taken two pictures. I knew something was wrong, but I didn’t understand what…………..that is, until I downloaded the memory card onto my computer. Here’s one:

And here’s the other!

The problem was that I had set the Nikon to multi-exposure mode, so as I was clicking away, it dutifully put the same images onto the same “image“. Like I said…….no clue what I was doing!

To be honest, I think they’re still pretty damned cool! But I’m glad Phil was there to provide us some pictures that don’t look like a Venn diagram.
