As much as I love movies, it’s incredible that I’m only watching Patton now (particularly since war movies are a favorite of mine). What’s amusing about the opening speech is how cleaned up it was for the movie. The actual speech, which you can read here, is, shall we say, a lot more colorful than the movie’s version.
I wish George C. Scott had read the speech verbatim, instead of using fill-ins like “dung” and “fornicating.” In any case, it’s still pretty stirring, even watered-down:
