Slope of Hope Blog Posts
Slope initially began as a blog, so this is where most of the website’s content resides. Here we have tens of thousands of posts dating back over a decade. These are listed in reverse chronological order. Slopers are a diverse and talented bunch. One wrote me two days ago:
I’ve been a day trader for the past 7 years and I am a fan of Slope of Hope.
I’m also a musician and I recently recorded a song inspired by trading. The song is called “Fear is Born to Us Alive” and chronicles the mental rollercoaster one experiences in trading. The chorus speaks to the all-too-familiar “Deer in the headlights” phenomena that traders are often caught in.
Thought it might be a nice change of pace for your readers if you want to share it.

This has been a not-that-wonderful day for me, although my SPY and GDX long positions helped take a lot of the sting out. My best performer on the short side is Key Energy Services, shown below. I've got a stop set at 11.64, just above recent highs, giving this a good risk/reward ratio.
OCTOBER MONTHLY MACRO ECONOMIC UPDATE
I took a month off last month and it was very good to have a break. I'm excited to "get to" put this together and see what the data is telling us. As of Friday, October 21, the equity markets have stabilized a bit after a thrashing and we are back to the 1235 level on the SPX. Earnings have been mixed and there have been some misses that shocked the world and then some beats that have been quite good. Overall, I didn't expect this earnings season to be all that bad, but the next one should be more than interesting.
This is a chart even the most ferocious bear could love. It has a gorgeous pattern, a long base, growing volume, and a clean breakout. I own it; it's a beauty…..
