Good Lord. We haven’t looked at Beyond Meat (BYND) in a while, which is example 1,339 of a company that should never have gone public in the first place, were it not for the government-caused insanity of the Covid trillions flooding the capital markets. In any case, it’s down 96%, and it’s pretty clear that people would rather eat a delicious ribeye steak than they would whatever-the-hell this stuff is made of. As I’ve said many times, I live in hippy-dippy, left-leaning, tree-hugging Palo Alto, and I’ve never in my life seen anyone buy a single Beyond Meat product at the downtown Whole Foods. Not even once.

Poker and Options

I read Quora every single day, just to learn new things, and I was absolutely fascinated with an article which I read here. In it, a man describes how, in his teenaged and college years, he was a very successful poker player, but he ultimately lost it all. I can’t do the story justice (it’s rather long, but captivating), so I simply urge you to read it. I don’t know the first thing about playing cards, but this guy should write a book!

After yesterday’s CPI Roman candle, we prepare for today’s PPI firecracker. I gotta tell you, the notion that we’re at 4.9% inflation is simply comic. Just a few days ago I was looking at a faucet to buy only for $170. I decided to buy it the next day, and it was $313. I see that kind of price shift constantly, whether it’s my utility bill or a restaurant tab. Inflation is 4.9% in the deluded minds of those making up the numbers. I’m thinking more like 30%, if my life experience is any guide. In any event, the /ES is down slightly as I’m typing this, pre-PPI.
