He’s Thread, Jim……
Over the past week, there was a lot of hoo-ha about the “Twitter Killer” that Mark Zuckerberg developer (errr, actually, that all the fired Twitter engineers he scooped up developed, who are probably going to be collectively sued). Anyhoo, there’s also been tremendous chatter about the tens of millions of downloads Threads has received.
I strongly suspect that most of those downloads are from people like me, who simply:
- Are a little curious;
- Want to secure a decent screen name;
- Will decide in a minute or two that there’s absolutely no point in bothering.
In other words, I’ve got about 25,000 followers on Twitter. Why – – why on Earth?? – – would I ever consider changing? I downloaded it, sent out one “thread”, and never went back.

I feel somewhat exonerated (even though I don’t have a single share) that my persistently positive opinion of Rivian trucks has finally found its way into the performance of the stock price. The surge in volume is impressive as well.
Utilities, Okay!
I remain quite cautious in this so-called market of ours. One of the few items I fairly well trust is the utilities fund symbol XLU, whose diamond topping pattern is quite well-formed. I am steadfastly ONLY getting January 2024 puts now for any position, even for ETFs, because I want to give myself an insanely long runway.
Goin’ Down on Amazon
As of Friday, I am long January $130 puts on this persistently-overvalued online retailer and cloud-data-purveyor. There was an island reversal gap at 133.69, and the counter-trend push seems to have exhausted on July 3rd.
