My second favorite cartoon on the web is Matt Inman’s The Oatmeal (and since you ask, my first favorite is Ruben Bolling’s Tom the Dancing Bug). Anyway, today is Columbus Day, as I’m sure you are aware. Like me, you are probably busy preparing big Columbus Day celebrations, parties, and festivals. It is, after all, one of the greatest holidays of the year, right up there with Grandparents Day and St. Patrick’s Day.
The Oatmeal recently published this cartoon to shed some light on Columbus and what a dick he actually was. Maybe we could work on Stalin Day and Hitler Day. The whole thing is idiotic and just another invented reason (besides the shutdown) for federal employees to take the day off. Read the comic. It’s illuminating.
