In the early 1980s, I unwittingly stumbled onto one of the biggest high-tech battles in business history. One which involved the largest legal payout ever awarded in a California lawsuit and sent a member of the Forbes 400 fleeing to a tiny island in the Marianas to hide from the tax man. And all I was trying to do was find a publisher for my computer games.

Like most equities, Nordstrom (JWN) has had a very strong run since stocks bottomed on August 15th. In that short span of time, it has ascended nearly 40%.

There are times on Slope that I’m so prolific that I have to hold back on publishing new posts in order to avoid the “drinking from the fire-hose” feeling for my readers. Other times, like now, when I either don’t feel like writing or am writing something so time-consuming that I ignore everything else. At the moment, both apply.
