Fie On Thee, Roblox

Am I biased against this company? Yes. Does the bullish RBLX chart get me riled? Yes. Emotionally charged? Check.

Over the past two months, price action has staged a mighty comeback. This daily chart represents the company’s entire history with the market. Price is now approaching two trendlines of resistance, from the highs in June and November 2021.

Three months ago, I highlighted RBLX in this post.

Referenced in that post was an article by Edwin Dorsey of The Bear Cave, outlining why he called Roblox, “the leading platform of pedophiles.”

No matter pedophilia, gaming is big business and in three years the company’s registered users have increased from 35 to 150 million. As of early 2022, the platform has 54.1 million daily active users.

Recently co-founder David Baszucki wrote, “The Metaverse Is Coming,” describing a digital place where people seamlessly get together and interact in millions of 3D virtual experiences.

Virtual, so it’s safe, right? In a January 2022 article, Backlinko reported that 67% of Roblox users are under 16.

With that age demographic in mind, it should come as no surprise that one of the company’s upcoming games is “Pooh” that “turns Christopher Robinson’s best buddy into a bear-y hungry beast…”. Read about it here.

I am not sure there is better writing for children – and adults! – than the stories and teachings given us by A.A. Milne. These were difficult to pluck because there are so many, but consider these few:

  • The third-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the majority. The second-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking with the minority. The first-rate mind is only happy when it is thinking.
  • In the quiet hours when we are alone and there is nobody to tell us what fine fellows we are, we come sometimes upon a moment in which we wonder, not how much money we are earning, nor how famous we have become, but what good we are doing.
  • If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.
  • A little Consideration, a little Thought for Others, makes all the difference.
  • The average man finds life very uninteresting as it is. And I think the reason why is that he is always waiting for something to happen to him instead of setting to work to make things happen.

If Roblox has proven nothing else, it has proven that nothing is sacred or safe from abuse and degenerate monetizing.

The company reports earnings tomorrow [Tuesday] after market hours and here’s the chart after close today.

Emotions be damned. Die, Roblox, die.
