The volatility grid page is one of those corners of Slope which is so easy to forget. I fired it up today and ran my ETF list through it, and the results are below. Naturally, there are a few leveraged funds mashed on the right side (the ultrashort on QQQ is always going to be volatile, right?) but there are some normal funds that are interestingly positioned, such as SLV, whose IV rank is exceptionally elevated.
Small caps were exceptionally strong early in the day, but take note of the breakdown that transpired over the course of the session…….(more…)
Earnings for Cracker Barrel (CBRL) came out this morning, and the reaction was underwhelming. It’s down somewhat as I’m typing this, but the movement is barely a blip compared to the enormity of the pattern. Now that the earnings risk is in the rear-view mirror, this seems an intriguing short to me with a stop at $141.
In order to beat back the boredom invoked by this so-called “market” of ours, I have YouTube on quite regularly, playing music of one kind or another. I have noticed that lately I have been inundated with ads from eToro, featuring a getting-really-old Alec Baldwin touting the benefits of depositing money into a cryptocurrency trading account.(more…)
