If your town is anything like mine, it has been losing all the good restaurants, left and right. Sure, the crappy mega-chains like Cheesecake Factory aren’t going anywhere, but the interesting, small places – – dying, dying, and dying. Here are some stats.

In any case, this awful year is almost over, and people are going to figure — phew – – glad we made it! But the damage is going to last for years and years to come.
All I can say is, if someone has always wanted to open a restaurant in this town, and they’re good at what they do, next year probably wouldn’t be a bad time to think about doing so. Because Palo Altans will always love good food that’s close by.
